Tania Rivilis
Tania Rivilis, born in Ukraine in 1986, did not embark on her artistic journey until her move to Germany. This shift, both geographical and personal, marked the beginning of an exploration that she started at the age of 27.
From Ukraine to the World
When Tania first set foot in Germany in 2012, little did she know her path would take her to global recognition. Her artistry started to bloom and by 2015, the world began to take notice. The stages varied — from renowned galleries to digital billboards in iconic locations.
Honoring the Craft
It’s worth noting that Tania’s journey is not just about locations or exhibitions. It’s about honoring a craft, a process, a passion. In 2022, her commitment to her art was acknowledged when she received the William Lock Prize at the Royal Portrait Society. A deeper dive into the stories behind the awarded paintings reveals the artistry and dedication of the participants, and Tania stood out with her unique approach to the timeless portrait, an ode to paint and aesthetic potential. Exhibitions and Collaborations
Tania has been an active exhibitor at various prestigious platforms, such as the Arcadia Contemporary in New York and Bonnard Galerie in the Netherlands. Events like the LA Art Fair and Art Basel have also seen her work grace their spaces.
Her digital presence is equally noteworthy. A recent highlight includes her works illuminating the screens of Times Square in New York. To relive this iconic moment, have a glimpse here.
Yet, her journey is not only about individual milestones. Collaborations with prominent figures, such as Val Kilmer and the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, demonstrate the intersections of art across various mediums.
A New Chapter at Christie’s London
In the venerable halls of Christie’s, “Note to Self” stood as a testament to female creativity. Tania Rivilis, painting with her signature romanticism, showcased three distinctive pieces. Guiding this showcase were @artleadher and @mashondatifrere, emphasizing women’s pivotal place in contemporary art. Spanning 28th March to 14th April, the event transcended traditional exhibitions, heralding a fresh narrative in the art world. The 29th March saw Tania in attendance, marking a memorable moment in London’s rich artistic history.
Venturing into the Digital Era
The traditional canvas isn’t the only space where Tania’s artistry thrives. Since 2021, she has dipped her toes in the NFT community, creating ripples across platforms like SuperRare and NiftyGateway. Moreover, her art transcended physical boundaries as it became part of the ArtCrush world tour.
Inside Art with BBC World
Tania’s artistic journey has not only been about creating but also about conversing. An interesting chat titled “Women painting portraits” was featured on BBC World in July 2023.
